Affiliate Marketing
A website (publisher) which signs up to a merchant's affiliate programme features advertisements (often known as banner ads) for the merchant's products or services on their website. The affiliate earns a commission if a sale results (cost per sale) or simply if the merchant's website is visted (cost per action). This is called affiliate marketing and the publisher is called an affiliate.
The shopper's origin is traced by a unique affiliate id which is associated with them once they click on the advertisement.
Affiliate Marketing allows a website publisher to earn extra revenue through advertising and the merchant to build a network of advertisers and generate sales revenue.
