Shopping Portals

There are many websites which function as 'shopping portals'. These are hubs which offer access to other websites with a commonality such as the services they offer, a geographic location or a set governing principles (e.g. Ethical Junction). Shopping Portals are usually 'directories', with websites listed by category as opposed to a search engine which returns results based on a search term. A monthly or annual fee may be required for a listing.

Price Comparison Sites

Crop Google's Product SearchPrice comparison sites like Google's Product Search feature individual products from different websites. Visitors can order the product listings by various criteria, often including price, relavance or date. Many also offer consumer reviews on induvidual products too.

Merchants submit their product catalogues in the form of a data file (data feed), which vary from comparison site to comparison site.
